A RUNNING SHOE BRAND YOU PROBABLY HAVEN’T HEARD OF… But they are awesome.
For the past few months I’ve been putting the 361° running shoes to the test, taking them for road, off road and beach runs in my quest to see what they’re made of. As I haven’t been running more than 6 miles at a time, I haven’t run long in them however the trainers I chose are more of a speed shoe anyway!
Introducing the 361° KgM2 – not the catchiest of names, but I like the brand motto ‘one degree beyond’ – plus they’re the clothes and shoe supporter for the Olympics in Rio, kitting out all the volunteers, officials and torchbearers. A big role for this Asian company, although a great step as they try to break into Europe and the USA running scene.
Firstly, let me tell you that these shoes are seriously comfortable, which I don’t find is always the case in a speed shoe. I feel cushioned and supported, despite the lightweight nature of the sole and uppers. They’ve used a new technology called QU!KFOAM™ to enhance stability and cushioning to improve comfort and performance within their new line of trainers. In this particular turquoise shoe, the QU!KFOAM™ material is used in the midsole and insole for extra cushioning and responsiveness.
I’ve worn these shoes boxing, sand running, road running, trail running and always found them up to the job. They’re a neutral shoe but feel really supportive. The retail price is £100 for these beauties (I’ve had a lot of compliments on these on Instagram – maybe because they’re not pink!) however other shoes start at around £50.
It’s always a worry when you try a totally new brand and shoe, but the fact that the brand is already a major player in China and the rest of Asia should ease any concerns. They’ve developed this range of shoes especially for the Western markets (feet and bodies around the world are very different!)
The only problem is it can be a little difficult to get your hands on a pair, especially if you want to try before you buy. I’ve found them on Amazon and apparently they’re at big independent running shops – I’ll try to get a complete list up here asap if you do want to try them!
So, who else is unbelievably excited about the upcoming Olympics? How has it been four years since London?!
